Lorien offers
introductory,
beginner,
intermediate,
private,
and semi-private
Middle Eastern dance (belly dance) classes in and around Bangor, Maine.
Classes begin with a belly dance-oriented warm-up/stretch and go
on to teach the moves, steps, and rhythms of Middle Eastern dance. We
learn everything from the first gentle hip circles to ecstatic vibrating
shimmies, graceful veil work, the powerful rhythms of the zills
(finger cymbals), elegant, hypnotic arm movements, and controlled
isolation movements of the head, chest, belly, and hips.
Our bodies become both stronger and more flexible as these movements
become second nature.
Students of every age*, size,
gender, ethnicity, and level of fitness are welcome.

Children who are mature enough to commit to the learning process are
welcome as students.
